Important New Facts About Vacuum Cleaners Today

A vacuum cleaner is one of the most expensive pieces of home cleaning equipment we have. A good quality vacuum cleaner is an excellent investment in your home and in your home cleaning equipment. You can save a lot of money by doing your research.

If you have lots of flooring to vacuum you’ll want a model with floor attachments that use brushes and/or an upright vacuum with metal bottom plates. Metal components in a vacuum cleaner are better than plastic but will make the unit much heavier. A vacuum cleaner should expel or exhaust only fresh, clean air.

Vacuums with replaceable bags can add up each year adding significant cost to your initial purchase. Check out features vs. the weight to choose the right model for you. Look into the lightweight options to find vacuum cleaners that’ll be easier to push, carry, and store.

A self-propelled vacuum cleaner may sound great, but they’re actually very heavy to lift. Read the warranty fine print so you know exactly what’s covered in the event it’s defective or you need it repaired. Canister vacuum cleaners that have onboard tool storage make tools handy to reach.

Consider where the vacuum cleaner will be stored to make sure it will fit the space. Do you want an upright or canister? Find out the air watts to get a good indication of its suction power.

A bagless vacuum may leak dust, dust mites, mold spores, fungus, bacteria and allergen particles into the air, so small you may not be able to see all of them but will be cheaper though in the long run, because you’re not buying and using up bags. Though they may not be more powerful, higher priced uprights have a lot of gadgets that may be handy for your home, providing you use them. Make sure the machine feels comfortable.

A low-end upright model will usually have only a suction hose with a crevice tool, stair brush, and extended wand piece. Higher priced uprights have a wider cleaning path, possibly dirt sensors, and some will be self-propelled; they may have pre-motor filters to protect the motor from damage too. Many people find they don’t like to bend over to move the vacuum around so prefer an upright over a canister.

Find out how often belts, filters, and other items will need to be cleaned and/or replaced. You may want to find a canister vacuum cleaner with wheels that won’t scuff or damage your floors. It’s important to find out exactly what kind of maintenance your new vacuum cleaner will need.

True or absolute HEPA filters must pass a strict test to be considered HEPA worthy. You want to get rid of as much dirt, dust, mold spores, fungus, bacteria, dust mites and allergens as possible. HEPA is a type of filter that can trap a large amount of very small particles that other vacuum cleaners recirculate back into the air of your home. Look for the serial number and test results that are printed on true or absolute HEPA filters; make sure that the test results at .3 microns are 99.97 percent or above.

Make sure you get a good feel for the vacuum, its handle and accessories so you know if you can handle it if you have any disabilities or physical problems. True or absolute HEPA filters are usually more expensive than other HEPA filters. It’s up to you to decide if a true HEPA is essential for your family, or if capturing a smaller amount of particles is worth the price break on filter costs; however your family’s health is worth paying a little higher price.

Take time to do your research, the same way you would for any major purchase and buying a vacuum cleaner won’t be difficult. Choosing the best vacuum cleaner for you is easier than ever. Know that you’re getting the best vacuum cleaner for your money.

Vacuum Cleaners

Vacuum Cleaners are the great tool for cleaning surfaces at homes and offices. Besides keeping your house clean, these devices help you breathe in dust free air at home which keeps you and your family healthy. If you plan to purchase a new vacuum cleaner, take an informed decision. As there are many brands of vacuum cleaners available in the market, you should compare their features and decide the one which suits best your requirements regarding cleaning of your house. Here are few factors which you can consider to help you decide.

The first consideration is the surface type you want to clean. If you have floors without any carpeting, go for canister type vacuum cleaners as they can clean the dust and debris by vacuum head. On the other hand if you have carpeted floor as is the case mostly in colder areas, you can choose an upright vacuum cleaner. Upright cleaners better remove fur and hair from the fibers of the carpet. There are different models which are effective on both types of surfaces.

Another consideration is the pulling power of the vacuum cleaner. For a better suction power, vacuum cleaner should have strong motor. Upright cleaners have 7 to 12 amps of power and canister vacuum cleaners have about 12 amps of power. If you have thick carpet, you need powerful motor to pull the debris and dust from the fibers.

Like the suction power, the effectiveness of vacuum cleaner is also measured on the basis of airflow also. Without good airflow, a vacuum cleaner would not pull the dirt off the floor or carpet as effectively as it should. Effectiveness of airflow is measured in terms of cubic feet per minutes. More the CFM, more effective is the device.

Vacuum cleaners filter out the pollen and dust particles. There are vacuums with bag or without bags. In more advanced vacuum cleaners which are bagless, there is filtration system like HEPA filtration. If you or some one in your family suffer with allergies from pollen or dust, these vacuums with HEPA are quite good. These vacuums are a bit expensive but worth buying them for their features.

A thorough maintenance is required to keep the vacuum cleaners working properly. Try to find out a vacuum having all the good features and also requires little maintenance and care. Apart from this check its warranty also as buying a vacuum cleaner is a pricey purchase. Be sure to get the best one.

Vacuum Cleaners

Vacuum cleaners are so smart today that they seem like super efficient housekeepers for the way they take over most of the cleaning functions of the house. They not only disinfect kitchens, and bathrooms, clean windows, ceilings, tiles, air out upholstery , mattress and curtains , restore lifeless house plants, defrost the freezer , they even remove creases from ones’ garments! They are certainly multi functional gadgets that no modern home or office can do without. All these multiple functions are housed in a device as compact and portable as a travel bag.

Most devices run on about 1200 watts power and have steam cleaners to effectively kill allergy causing bacteria. The accessory bag has different tools to clean different surfaces, a jet nozzle, an angled nozzle to take care of crevices, cotton sock, a brush, measuring jug and funnel, and a window cleaning squeegee attachment.

Vacuum Cleaners consume a minimum of 1 litre water and can produce steam continuously for 20 minutes by heating it up for about three minutes. For heating up alone it may require about 200 watts in some devices. The cord that is provided with the device can be rewound. There is also a shoulder strap provided and this makes it easy to carry.

There are Vacuum Cleaners that are even smaller and handier. They are useful to dust and clean car upholstery and carpets on stairs and rails. The built in hose is long and can be stored inside the device. The device itself is small enough to be stacked into a shelf. Once the cup collecting the dust is full it can be emptied. The whole operation is extremely easy and flexible. While the bigger cleaners are suitable for larger areas, the small hand held cleaners work very well for smaller areas. The most invisible dust particles do not seem to escape the cleaner and it is soon sucked up into the machine.

There are brands which offer other features where the device can be controlled by our fingers, and have side suction channels, a cleanable filter and are designed without bags which some users may find irksome. Some other cleaners are more suitable for cleaning tiles in the bathroom and are effective because they do not require the aid of too many harmful detergents to make the floor sparkle. There are machines which can be foot operated also and that means that one need not bend down awkwardly to operate the switches.

The History of Eureka Vacuum Cleaners

The history of Eureka vacuum cleaners begins in Detroit, Michigan in 1909 with a man named Fred Wardell. Within three years, the Eureka Vacuum Cleaner Company was selling six models of vacuum cleaners that also came with attachments specialized for different cleaning jobs. Because Eureka’s vacuum cleaners were lighter and better designed than their competitors and had such innovative attachments including a hair dryer, Eureka was awarded the grand prize at the San Francisco International Exposition in 1915. Within five years, the Eureka Company was able to produce about 2,000 vacuum cleaners per day from their 3.5 acre Detroit factory. A decade later in 1930, Eureka began manufacturing electric ranges.

By 1942, Eureka halted the production of vacuum cleaners at the Detroit factory in order to produce gas masks and other items to support the war efforts during World War II. Following the war, Eureka merged with Williams Oil-O-Matic, a company known for its heating business, forming the Eureka-Williams Company. By the end of the 1940′s Eureka-Williams would be known for a contraption called a “Wooden Lung” that was used in the treatment of people with polio and for children stricken with infantile paralysis. A decade later, in 1957, Eureka-Williams returned to its roots and began to focus on vacuum cleaners and floor care products again.

Over time, Eureka-Williams extended its reach to include the production of school furniture, the introduction of the Henney Kilowatt (a battery-operated car), and even a thermal battery for NASA. In 1974, Eureka-Williams was purchased by AB Electrolux, a Swedish company, and the name was changed to The Eureka Company. For the next twenty years, The Eureka Company expanded its operations to manufacturing plants in Mexico, Texas and Illinois.

In the early 2000′s The Eureka Company began to offer Eletrolux vacuum cleaners and in 2004, the company officially changed its name to Electrolux Home Care Products North America. In 2009, Eureka celebrated 100 years of history and brand innovation. Today, Eureka is considered a part of the home products division of Electrolux and continues to focus on vacuum cleaners and other cleaning products including three other brands: Electrolux, Electrolux Central Vacuum Systems and Sanitaire.

There is a full array of cleaning products under the Eureka brand alone, including not only uprights and canisters, but home built in systems and steam cleaners, to list just a few. Eureka has also paired up with Arm & Hammer to produce a new generation of vacuum cleaner products and has joined Filtrete to round out the line of consumer goods available in the marketplace.

In addition to the ongoing development of new designs and innovative products, Eureka also continues to manufacture replacement parts for almost all makes and models of vacuums. Always at the forefront of innovation, Eureka vacuum cleaners continues to impress the market with its ability to lead in quality and value yet meet and surpass environmental standards with its products. As the excitement continues to grow over

House Cleaning 101

1. When its time to clean the house the first thing you want to do is get comfy. Wear cloths that are comfortable and allow you to move freely. I love my blue jeans. I practically live in them, but not when I am cleaning the house. They are too restricting when you are constantly bending, stretching, turning etc. I actually wear my work out gear to clean. For tops you also want something that is a fairly loose fit especially in the wrist area if you are going to wear full length sleeves. Three quarter length sleeves are actually better or a t-shirt, but you want in the very least to be able to roll or push up your sleeve. You can’t be afraid of getting your shirt wet every time you rinse your cleaning rag in the bucket or sink. It slows you down. Besides comfy fitting cloths you want something that you are not going to cry over if you happen to get cleaners on them that may possibly leave a stain.

2. Create an atmosphere, when housecleaning. I turn on (and crank) music. For me it is all about the hip hop. Fast paced, fun …… anything that makes YOU feel upbeat. The more energy you have the faster you clean and the more cleaning gets done. If the weather allows I open curtains and windows. The fresh air is also invigorating. If it is yucky outside, I will spray some air freshener in each room before I start the circuit.

3. Get your cleaning tray  and make sure that all your cleaners and tools are stocked and ready to go. Nothing slows down cleaning more then continually running to the cleaning cupboard to grab something you forgot or are out of.

4. If you have a blue tooth for your phone stick it in your ear now. Keep your hands free to keep on cleaning. If you don’t, turn off the ringer while you are housecleaning and respond to missed calls when you are done. Unless of course you are expecting an important call. A constantly ringing phone is distracting and you will become frustrated and abandon cleaning altogether if you constantly must stop and re-start.

5. I take a laundry basket and garbage bag into each room I am going to clean. Every item in the room that doesn’t belong in the room goes into the laundry basket. The garbage in the garbage. Now the room is de cluttered and ready to clean.

6. Always clean top to bottom. Start with dusting ceiling fans, door frames, pictures on the walls etc. This way any dust that is not immediately caught in the duster falls onto the yet unclean surface. As I work top to bottom, I also work left to right from my start point. Circling the room in a clock wise motion until I am back to my start position. Now I clean the floors and that room is done.

7. Carry tray, garbage bag and laundry basket to next room. Remove from the laundry basket any of the items that may have belonged in that room. Repeat steps 5 and 6.

8. Switch up the routine every so often. Save the floors in all the rooms for last. Change the order of the rooms you clean. Anything that is going to make you feel less like a robot.

Choosing The Best House Cleaning Products

It can be difficult to pick out the best home cleaning products – there are lots of products advertised in newspapers, on infomercials, and on radio station adverts – all claiming to be the best house cleaning products, and promising to eradicate dirt and germs.

The products advertised in this way usually are not the best ones. To find ones that really work, you will need to test several products. Ask around to find out what your family and friends use, and what they think of that product – you will learn about a lot of new products this way, and find out which ones are suitable for use on fabrics, woodwork, and home appliances, and which ones work for different kinds of spills, or general cleaning purposes.

If you are starting your own cleaning service, investigate a wide range of products, and note their qualities – some clients may require products that do not use a certain ingredient. Some may want a product that has a certain fragrance, or one that does not leave any smell at all after use. To ensure you can keep all your clients happy, you will need to have a wide variety of products in your arsenal.

You do not need to buy the most expensive products, your clients will be more impressed if you find products that work, regardless of their price. If people ask for natural cleaning products, then one option is to make your own.

DIY House Cleaning Products

By making your own house cleaning products, you will save a lot of money, and be helping the environment at the same time. The chemicals used in many modern products are quite harmful to the environment, and many people are allergic to them. If you offer home made cleaning products to your clients, you may find many of them ask if they can buy some of the product for their own use, giving you a whole extra way of generating income for your business.

DIY cleaning products are quite easy to make. Some of the simplest ones to make are bleach alternatives – baking soda or white vinegar is a good alternative to bleach – mix it with a little water, and you’re done. To clean glass, use a little lemon juice or vinegar mixed with water, for an odor free, effective cleaning product.

Instead of using a harsh furniture polish, try a little vegetable oil and lemon juice – put some of this on an old towel, and rub it in to the furniture for a nice shiny finish.

There are lots of other recipes, try experimenting with natural ingredients to make your own recipes.
